As the vote counting for the US presidential election has begun, the New York Times has for the first time forecast that Trump may win the election. Nate Cohn, the newspaper's chief political analyst, said that Trump has an advantage in Pennsylvania, Michigan and Wisconsin. To win, Kamala Harris needs to win all three states.

The Associated Press predicted that, based on preliminary results, Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump is now expected to win 210 electoral votes, while Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris will win 113 electoral votes.

As Trump is leading the race, the USD Index last gained 1.6%, and futures for the three major US stock indices climbed by more than 1%.
