NIO-SW (09866.HK)  -0.750 (-2.060%)    Short selling $25.70M; Ratio 40.803%   (NIO.US)      's third brand “Firefly” plans to launch its first plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) in 2026 for sale in overseas markets, including the Middle East, North Africa and Europe, with deliveries beginning in 2027, Reuters, citing people familiar with the matter, reported.

The main investor in the research and development of the Firefly brand's range-extended PHEV is an investment institution under the Abu Dhabi government, sources divulged. Coupled with the fact that the infrastructure in the Middle East is not yet ready for the large-scale adoption of EVs, it is believed that this may boost sales in the Middle East market.
