Hong Kong's Chief Executive John Lee is delivering his latest Policy Address. He announced that the HKMA will adjust the maximum loan to value ratio for residential properties to 70%, regardless of the value of the properties, whether the properties are for self-use or held by companies, and whether the purchasers are first time home buyers, while the maximum debt servicing ratio will be adjusted to 50%. The Policy Address also indicated that investment in residential properties is allowed provided that the transaction price of the residential property concerned is no less than $50 million, with the amount of real estate investment to be counted towards the total capital investment capped at $10 million.Spurred by the news, HK property developers shot up after midday.
