Hong Kong's Chief Executive John Lee is delivering his latest Policy Address. He announced that the HKMA will adjust the maximum loan to value ratio for residential properties to 70%, regardless of the value of the properties, whether the properties are for self-use or held by companies, and whether the purchasers are first time home buyers, while the maximum debt servicing ratio will be adjusted to 50%. The Policy Address also indicated that investment in residential properties is allowed provided that the transaction price of the residential property concerned is no less than $50 million, with the amount of real estate investment to be counted towards the total capital investment capped at $10 million.

Spurred by the news, HK property developers shot up after midday. SHK PPT (00016.HK)  -3.200 (-3.712%)    Short selling $74.87M; Ratio 43.204%   last stood at $88.8, up 3.26%, on turnover of $191 million. CK ASSET (01113.HK)  -0.150 (-0.459%)    Short selling $13.83M; Ratio 16.953%   last posted at $33.75, up 2.58%, on volume of 2.5252 million shares, involving $83.7054 million. SINO LAND (00083.HK)  -0.130 (-1.641%)    Short selling $2.77M; Ratio 26.163%   last logged at $8.59, up 2.87%, with a turnover of $22.8904 million. KERRY PPT (00683.HK)  -0.080 (-0.474%)    Short selling $826.45K; Ratio 14.256%   was last at $16.7, up 3.21%.
