As of September this year, the total size of the shipping fleet of China reached 430 million deadweight tons, accounting for 18.7% of the world's fleet, the Water Transport Bureau of the Ministry of Transport (MOT) of China said at a press conference today (15th). In 8M24, the cargo throughput of ports of China reached 11.51 billion tons, and the container throughput of ports reached 220 million TEUs, up 3.7% and 8.2% YoY, respectively.

The Bureau also mentioned that Shanghai is accelerating the construction of an international shipping hub. Shanghai Port's container throughput in 1-3Q24 reached 39.102 million TEUs, up 8% YoY.
