An express delivery company in Shenzhen, Guangdong recently issued a notice which informed that it will adjust freight prices starting from September. The key areas for price increases are reportedly in the Chaoshan region, including Chaozhou, Jieyang and Shantou. All express delivery prices will hike by more than RMB0.6, effective September.

According to Securities Times, a number of express delivery companies in Shenzhen said that they have not received any notification from their respective delivery points or head offices about the price hike for the time being. Based on the development of the industry, the latter half of each year is the traditional peak season, when all delivery companies appropriately raise the freight charges.

In addition, the report quoted an insider in the express delivery industry in Shenzhen as saying that the State Post Bureau recently held a meeting to require the industry to prevent “involute” vicious competition, and express delivery companies will have to respond positively.
