With the approval of the Central Committee of the Chinese Communist Party, the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection - National Supervisory Commission (CCDI-NSC) conducted a case review and an investigation into the serious violations of discipline and law committed by Li Yong, the former deputy party secretary and general manager of China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC), according to the website of the CCDI-NSC.

In accordance with the relevant provisions of the the Regulation of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) on Disciplinary Actions, the Supervision Law of the People's Republic of China and others, the Standing Committee of the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection (CCDI) studied and reported it to the Central Committee of the Chinese Communist Party for approval.

The authority decided that Li should be expelled from the Party, the benefit he enjoyed should be canceled according to the regulations, and the proceeds obtained by him from his violation of discipline and law should be confiscated, etc..
