In a nationally televised address from the White House Oval Office on the attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump, President Joe Biden condemned all forms of political violence in a less than seven-minute speech, saying that disagreement is inevitable in a democratic country, but politics must never be a killing field.

In his speech, Biden mentioned not only Trump's shooting, but also the attack on the husband of former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's husband and the Capitol riot on 6 January 2021.

Biden said that this kind of violence cannot be normalized, and that it is time to calm the political rhetoric down in the US, which has become so heated.
