Ant Group, MasterCard (MA.US)      and other organizations jointly launched the "Inbound Consumer Friendly Shopping Circle Co-construction Program" in Shanghai today (31st), Chinese news broke.

Sources told that the program aims to let more foreign consumers know that they can use mobile payment in Mainland China, with the help of prominent payment signs at cashier counters, display of bilingual service manuals at service counters and public spaces, and provision of bilingual waiters and bilingual menus.

The above program already covered more than 20 popular shopping circles, five major foreign-related living communities, five major landmarks, two major international airports and three major train stations.

Based on the statistics from Alipay and Alipay+ partners, the number of foreign consumers who used scanner payment in Shanghai through the "foreign card bundling" and "outsourcing" programs recorded a 13-time year-on-year spike in the amount of purchases and a 12-time year-on-year rally in the number of transactions from January to April 2024.
