TENCENT (00700.HK) reported a surge of 18% in its 3Q25 non-IFRS net profit to RMB70.551 billion, beating market expectations.

Martin Lau, TENCENT's President, confessed in an analyst conference call that the supply of AI chips is one of the factors constraining the growth of the company's cloud business.

Owing to the supply shortage, TENCENT will prioritize the use of AI chips for internal AI model training and advertising. If the AI chip supply had not been restricted, Lau stressed that the cloud revenue would have grown faster.

Regarding TENCENT's international gaming business, its revenue exceeded RMB20 billion for the first time last quarter, a pace of growth significantly faster than the previous two quarters. However, Lau estimated it would slow down in 4Q25.
