According to data released by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), on a YoY basis, the prices of food, tobacco and alcohol mounted by 0.2% in July, affecting the CPI upwards by about 0.07 ppts. Among the food items, livestock and meat prices lifted by 4.9%. Among them, the price of pork rocketed by 20.4%, affecting the CPI upwards by about 0.24 ppts. Prices of fresh vegetables and aquatic products escalated by 3.3% and 1.2% respectively, while prices of fresh fruits tumbled by 4.2%.

On a YoY basis, prices of other goods and services and education, culture and recreation ascended by 4% and 1.7% respectively, while prices of clothing and healthcare rose by 1.5% and 1.4%, and prices of daily necessities and services and housing elevated by 0.7% and 0.1% respectively. Prices of transport and communications declined by 0.6%.

On an MoM basis, food, tobacco and alcohol prices rose by 0.7% in July, affecting the CPI upwards by about 0.21 ppts. Among the food items, prices of fresh vegetables, eggs, livestock and aquatic products increased by 9.3%, 3.7%, 0.8% and 0.4% respectively. Pork prices elevated by 2%, affecting the CPI upwards by about 0.03 ppts. Prices of staple food and fresh fruits waned by 0.3% each.

On an MoM basis, the prices of education, culture and entertainment climbed by 1.3%, transport and communications, and other goods and services inclined by 0.9%, and the prices of daily necessities and services added by 0.4%. The prices of housing and healthcare remained flat, and the prices of clothing reduced by 0.4%.
